Initially the engine would run for about 3-5 min, then the fuse would blow.

I went through about 5 fuses, now they blow immediately when I put them in. I tried a 20A just to see and it didn't blow. I tried a 10A after the 20A and the 10A blew. I have a feeling that if it was a direct short, the 20A fuse would have blown as well. If I fried the relay, I don't think the 10A fues would have blown afterward. Does this sould like a dead fuel pump? I'm checking the impediance of the pump tomorrow when it gets light. It's supposed to be half an ohm, correct?

I'm having the same problem. I just put in a DE into my 90 240 and today alone I went thru 3 fuses. First 2 10amp and then a 15. I have a 20 in right now and it - obviously- hasn't blown. The only thing different is that it is a 300ZX fuel pump. I was thinking that maybe the 300ZX pump might pull more than the stock 240 pump and in turn blow the 10amp fuses.

i had no problem with z32 fuel filter but as soon as i wired the ac fan to the fuel pump fuse then it will blow so i just used a 20amp fuse and it is fine...havent had any problems since then...i like to know what is wrong so i can go back to the 10amp fuse to be on the safe side...
