I'll try to give all the information that I can; I've posted this before, but in the technical (I should have known better).CAR: 1991 240sxTransmission: ManualEngine: KA24DERecently replaced parts: placed a used s14 fuel pump in.o2 sensor replaced almost 2 years agoKnock sensor replaced 16 months ago

6 Days ago I noticed a problem with my car on the freeway:

at 3,000 RPM in 5th gear the car would fall flat on it's face; wouldn't go any faster, just burned a lot of fuel (or atleast smelt like it).

When I got onto city streets these were my findings:

at idle; it remains constant (800 RPM) but the car shakes (like a rolling shake)

4th gear, 4000 RPM; I hit the gas, very little acceleration happens; rpms do not climb as perusal

I pulled the codes and received:

14 Vehicle speed sensor circuit32 EGR function45 Injector leak

I've had the code 32 for a while with no problem. The tach has been dropping reading for 8 months now (so I believe thats the code 14 right there)

Then the code 45; last time I received this one I believe I just cleaned out the intake and it went away...? anyways

I reset the ECU and the troubles went away for a time, yesterday (5 days since ECU reset) the problem came back.

This morning I my car died while I had the clutch pressed in. An hour ago I cleared the codes, drove it around till it happened again and threw a code; after 10 minutes of driving it tried to die a couple of times. While on a straightaway the CEL came on:

Code 45

When the car is hot or cold the idle becomes erratic and starts to sputter. this continues for a minute or two and then it chokes itself out.

Tomorrow I am going to do a vacuum pressure test to see if it's any of the lines.

Any ideas?I really need help; I don't have much time to diagnose because I work 12X7 right now, so I only have 30 minutes to figure things out.

Troubles are back; won't hold idle to save it's life (hot or cold). Pulled the battery to try and wipe the ECU again.

Any help would be appreciated gang. I'm really hurting on this one.

Gas is getting to the engine; it started sputtering and dipping and I could smell the octane while in the car.

I am having the exact same problem with my car right now. I am not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination however I did locate the problem. All I did was spray my engine with water to locate the vacuum leak.

It should be back and running tomorrow. Does the problem go away when you drive in the rain? it's a pretty good indication if it's a vacuum or not. If you spray your engine and the problem gets worse then it's an electrical problem.

Take my advice with a grain of salt. Not a mechanic
