I have a 1991 Nissan 240SX DOHC Automatic and I believe that my transmission slipped or something but I cant really find the actual problem. I was driving down the Highway and the accelerator stopped responding with the gears. It didnt make any pops or loud noises the car just wouldnt accelerate anymore. The shifter will move smoothly and the car starts fine and the RPMs are showing when pushing the accelerator. The car just wont respond when in drive or reverse. What types of problems could I be looking at and how can I fix it?

you probobly allready have but check the fluid does it smell burnt is it metalic in colorifit does or is you might need to find a new auto or swap to a five speed not that hard if you have the money i got my perfect new auto for 125$ with everything. i woulda went with 5 spd but you need clutch, clutch pedal, brake pedal, clutch lines, slave cylinder, clutch master cylinder, and a drill to use to drill a few holes but dont give up yet!

Yea I checked all that and its fine. I know the transmittion is not blown out I just dont know whats wrong with it. How much do you think it would cost to change to a 5spd?

- ATF may be low; check level while idling and fully warmed up.- line pressure may be too low.

try putting it into 1 or L and see if it works in any gears. a 5 spd swap could run you about 300 for the most in sacramento for local pick up allready out of the car. i got a good auto for 125. auto's are about 100 to about 250 around here... i was gonna get my 5spd swap parts at pick n pull but everything together gets expensive.

take it out of Neutral dummy!

I would also say torque converter if l if all your fluids are good and everything seems fine.
