91 240SX Auto Shifts rough into OD and Getting error code 16...This might be 2 issues or just one... *Does any one know what the error is when the OD light flashes 16 times when the car is started? I cleared this by turning the ignition to run and then off about 40 times, the error went away, but after driving to work, the code came back when I started the car to go home.*My car has a hard time getting into OD. I have to let off the gas for it to engage, else it stays off...

I think both started at the same time...Any ideas?

I'm quite sure that you're reading the error code wrong. Check this out for the right way to interpret the flashing.

just wondering the disclamer says "These codes are assumed current through 1997" did the codes change when the ecu changed from odbI to obdII and wouldnt the codes be current only through 96 then (wasnt ecu upgrade in 97)?

My car does that. I never bothered to count but let me explain a little bit....Nissan put a fluid softner on the transmission to keep the shifts smooth/nice,it was kind of an afterthought in terms of design/execution. There is a somewhat popular mod on auto trannied 240s of disabling this by unplugging the harness under the hood (http://www.240sx.org/faq/artic...o.htm). I did this to my 240 and since then its had the OD light flashing thing as well as shifts very hard on the 1-2 shift,and the 3-4 shift,but the 2-3 is still very smooth. How is it shifting other then into OD? Smooth? Rough? Does the whole car jerk and make a loud "bump" when you drop it into drive? Sounds to me like something on this system is messing up,and thats why you are only seeing it when its trying to get into OD.
