I just rebuilt the engine in my 91 240sx. Replaced all bearings, timing chains, dropped in the SOHC pistons with new rings bored 1mm over. I've got it all back in the car now, tried to fire it up and it cranks but wont fire, we've got spark, and the fuel pump does a prime shot like its supposed to when you turn the key to ON. But the injectors dont fire, confirmed with a noid light. What could be the problem? As far as I can tell everythings hooked back up exactly the way it was, with the exeption that the large ground that runs above the transmission that normally goes to the very top bell housing bolt, has been moved to a bell housing bolt down on the right side, close to the starter, thats it. Anyone else ever run into this?

Forgot to mention, yes it is timed perfectly. The timing marks were all lined up and the engine was a TDC on the #1 compression stroke. The AC compressor and power steering were removed at this time too.

Check out the Crank Position Sensor harness connector.

Thats the plug that goes to the distributor right? Thats the way it looked in my FSM, seems kinda strange to me though. Yeah its plugged in, everything worked fine before I pulled the motor so I have no reason to believe the plug went bad just sitting for a few days.

New developments: Car wont even crank over anymore. Last night I tried disconnceting the battery cables and touching them together for 30 seconds like someone said on here to reset the ECU, after that, whenever I go to START from ON with the key, all the power dies. And this is a brand new battery. As soon as I move the key back to ON, everything would come back, except that after this happened a couple of times the power would just stay off and come back on randomly if I let it sit fro a little while. PLease help I need to get this thing back on the road soon.

You have to remember that when you rebuilt the motor, you had to disconnect a lot of wires to get the motor out of the car.

Now upon installation of the motor, you may not have reconnected all the wiring correctly, in particular the grounds.

I know this. This is exactly what I've been going over and over the last day or two, I've checked EVERY ground in the engine bay, they're all there, I've physically touched them, ALL of them, unless there are more which arent specified in the FSM.

ok here's a new question. Could using too much octane booster have caused the car not to fire? Cause I wanted to be on the safe side with the high compression and everything, so i put quite a bit in, and there wasnt much gas in the tank. This is assuming that I was wrong about the injectors not firing, which I'm pretty sure I was since the spark plugs smell like raw fuel and were slightly wet.

If the plugs are wet, then the injectors are working but there is no ignition. Check for spark at the coil and at every plug wire.

If you're getting spark, then the timing is probably off.
