Like the title says, Im having problems getting my 91 to fire. About 4 months ago I replaced an injector which fixed the loss of power problem. About a month later, the car started getting tough to start. To the point where eventually I had to put the petal to the floor and crank away just to get it to start. After sitting for a weekend, I went out to start it and it just sat and cranked with an overwelming gasoline odor. I have replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and the fuel filter. There is spark, which led me to think it may be a timing issue. A buddy and I worked on the timing but had no luck, the car just sits and cranks. What am I missing here?

It sounds as if you have fuel leaking into the cyl. since it happened after replacing the injector I think you should check your orings at the base of the injector.

Good call, I pulled the injector and noticed the bottom ring torn. How many are supposed to be at the bottom, I am only counting one on bottom and one large one on top. Also, could the bad ring be my only problem? I mean, would that be enugh to cause it to flood the cylinder and not start? Also, I noticed a crack in the metal piece that screws on the injector holding it in. when I inscrewed it the piece basicly fell in half. Can I get one of these from some where and any clue to a round about price? Thanks a ton

hey, call a diesel injection shop, i took all four of my injectors to one and had them re-built for less than 100 bucks, and i believe that cracked part is called the pintle

accualy on the dohc, there is a half circle of metal that screws on above the part on ours that is red. the pintle is the part that opens and closes.great idea on the diesel injection shop
