Hey guys,

I think I need a new starter; got plenty of battery juice but nothing happening when I turn the key. I think it's the starter - is it easy to remove and replace? Can anyone give me the step by step? thanks, Tom

I did a little more research - I hit on the starter with a hammer and the starter cranked for a few seconds then went quiet. This leads me to believe its the starter versus the starter relay. thoughts?

post the problem in only one thread. I will close the other thread down.

Pull your starter and have it checked.

Yeah I've changed that before. Just a couple of bolts if I remember correctly. Not too bad. If you are doing this your self, I think pep boys needed your core.

i actually just changed mine last week... its not too bad, you just need to jack up the front passenger side of the car, take off the power connections, and undo 2 bolts... the bottom one is fairly easy to get to, but the top bolt is a pita... other than that it should take you about 20 mins to change it, if you dont have any trouble getting the top bolt undone.

^yup what he said, altho i found it easier to unbolt the (+)connection after i pulled the starter off, i had a hard time to get to that nut, kept hitting the manifold mount or whatever that was,i dont remember. its easy to do, no more than an hour Max. just dont forget to DISCONNECT THE BATTERY!
