I've been having alot of overheating problems with my 240 and me being a dumb a*** i was stuck n a winter storm and had to drive it up a hill. as i was diving up the hill(in 1st gear the whole time)my temp meter started to rise until at the top of the hill it went past hot and jus cut off on me. when i tried to start it up it would make this whining noise but then wouldnt make any noise.....About 2 months later my battery was dead so i charged it up and after i connected everything i tried to start it up. when i turned the ignition the engine fan started to move and made a sound as if it wanted to start it......i dunno what the hell is wrong with my car. is the engine blown?? what should i do to get my car running again??

if it got to hot it chould have damaged something. how hot did it get. it chould have mest up the timing chain. for the overheating check the thermostat, or you mite have air in the radiater let it run with the cap off if you get it going.

I'm not sure how over heating could have messed up the timing chain, on the other hand more information would be helpful. Is it turning over? You could have blown the head gasket or ruined the piston rings. I doubt the motor seized completely.

Next time you car is over heating don't keep driving. hahaha

That sounds like it could be something as simple as a dead battery, you said it sat for a while?

Cars don't usually overheat in winter unless they are really messed up. Probably very low on coolant.

Quote »it went past hot and jus cut off on me.[/quote]You overheated so much that you probably warped your head. You will almost surely need a headgasket and have to send your head to a machine shop to be machined.

Currently, you should hook a battery charger up and try to start it. If it can't turn over with a battery charger on it then you have something restricting the movement of your pistons. Remove the spark plugs and try to crank it. Your cylinders may be full of coolant and cranking with the plugs out will expel the coolant from your cylinders. If you see coolant fly out, you know you need a headgasket and should check the head for warpage.
