Just finally finished heater core replacement via the "ghetto-fab" method of cutting the pipes in place, and am running a full coolant system flush. Car is running strong after 4 months of no life, and the engine sounds the same as when it got parked over.

Problems arose AFTER I sprung for new brakes/rotors/bearings which will ship tommorrow.....The passenger side window has decided to go down, but not up. Any ideas on what to look at/for and if this project is "doable" based on my ability to replace the heater core. I hear no clicking on the up button from either door switch.....

I am pondering shipping the car down to z1 and have them give it a glance over.

Thanks for reading my wall of text.

So the window goes down but won't come back up? And there's no noise when you try to put it back up? Usually when this happens it makes some kind of noise like its attempting to bring the window back up. Does the window go down real slow?

The window went down at the regular speed.

Check the switch for the window. Have you tried putting it up from the passenger side? Does it go up or do anything?

Neither of the switches make it go up, but both made it go down.

Drivers side window works correctly.

Is there a manual crank or something that I can do in the meantime so that I can take the tape and plastic sheeting off?

I am in the process of researching by ripping the door off. Im noticing that when the door shuts, the window "clatters" just a bit more than seems right....

The only thing I can think of is that the window motor is shot. It has enough life left to bring the window down (helped by gravity) but not enough to lift it back up. Or somehow its off the track or the lift mechanism is broken? Not sure if the Maximas around this time were the same, but my 92 window regulator went and it couldn't keep the window up. It also let the window come down but only when it was lined up right. That regulator had a plastic piece on it that would eventually break because the cable is metal and it would tear thru it over time. Let us know what you find when you pull the door panel off

I too had a 92 maxima SE 5speed....Oh how I miss that car, but with extra doors comes extra headaches....

I yanked the panel, and from my viewpoint, the motor is simply dead. the window seems to be on track. It would be exceptional if they engineered a manual crank system "just in case" that a technician cold do......

The thing I am loving about this process is that While I have the door panel off, I will probably replace speakers....

I need a new exhaust. The swiss cheese is soundin awful coming from the "down pipe" area....

At this moment, I got a good oil change, and the engine is incredibly quiet. I cant wait to get my exhaust on. I haven't taken measurements, but im wondering if my 2.5 inch exhaust pipes will mate up with the 2.25 factory manifolds...I highly doubt it.

Yeah it must be the window motor. So get this... a window motor for a 1991 300zx costs around $130-150 on eBay/RockAuto. The window motors from the 1988-89 Maximas are nearly identical and only cost $45. Someone on TT.net posted about it.

For the exhaust, an exhaust shop should be able to adapt 2.25 to 2.5 for a small fee

It would be great to get a quick reply, but I cannot find any dimensions on exhaust pipes. Reason why I ask, is that some places sell name brand OE "cat back" or "front muffler" and they have no requirement for 2+2 or 2+0.

Also, I ask because I accidently bought a catback that I thought would fit my car. I have yet to get this item, but from photos there seems to be little difference in size. is it possible that the cat-back systems use the same pipes?

apparently my car has some sort of possession. I got in and started it up tonight, and the passenger side window now decided that it will work 100%. Just goes to show, seeing how I bought a new motor last night. I guess that is good?

That's very odd lol maybe the old motor decided it wasn't dead yet. Might want to change it out anyway, unless the problem was a wiring/connection issue that got fixed when you were playing around with it?
