A few weeks ago one of my most enjoyed features called it kaputs. I saw some leafs to the rear of opening, so when i got home i decided to get 'em out. I opeen roof back, realized i could see them with roof in that position, i guess it needed to be up. started closing it, got 2/3 of way and stopped. Wound it close w/ manual crank and now it wont open at all. When i was cranking it the motor was still working. I got it closed, now it won't re-open, however, it will go up. What's going on here, are there two seperate motors, controlling up v/s front back, or is it off track or something?

Tracks were cleaned and greased w/ white lithium a few weeks earlier.

One motor for everything. It sounds like something is jammed, but beyond that I don't know. It's a pretty delicate and complex system, so you may want to leave well-enough alone unless you're ready to dish out some serious $$ on a replacement track assembly.

I'm thinking something is stuck too.seems like the it's kinda bogged down on the headliner. I'm so glad i blew out the drains a wks b4, cause they were clogged when i bought car and caused roof to leak..wweeeephhhh

I wish i could get this puppy functional again, but not to the tune of high $.

I once made things worse by attempting a DIY repair with memebr forecast ( who is pretty competent)

When we were done teh sunroof would even close anymore.

SO I was forced to get it fixed for real $$, when I could have just kept it closed and used the tilt feature.

Somewhere is a lengthy discussion of most things moonroof related. The search button is your friend. Might be clutch related; be very careful when/if you decide to play with it! it is very expensive to have repaired when you make mistakes and give up.

I had the same problem before. The sunroof wouldn't open, but the tilt would. It wasn't too hard to fix.

You need two people. One person inside the car the other outside. Person on inside pushes and holds roof open button. At the same time, the person on the outside palces their hands on sunroof and pushes towards the back of the car. The person on the inside should also push the roof towards the back of the car. Don't open the roof all the way though.

Once you get open, check all the moving parts to make sure that none of them are stuck. Lubricate where necessary. Then try to close sun roof. That should do it. If not, then you have a problem.

Sometimes with electrical/mechanical mechanisms they will lose their track. Meaning the sensors misread once in a while. Simply running the mechanism through its routine manually will normally fix the problem.

If none of my advice works, either take to a dealer or leave it be.

BTW, the sunroof is one of my favorite features also.
