Work one obstruction at a time. Any hoses probably need to be cut off and replaced. There are a couple screws bolted to the bottom of the plenum that need to be removed too. 10mm heads. I think they hold down harnesses and the fuel injector rail. You also have to unbolt the IAC at the rear of the plenum, clean it, and replace its gasket.

Don't try to save any of the old hoses, just hack away and the plenum will come right off. Replacing them all will mean an easier job and peace of mind later.

Here is how I did it on my 94Q

1. Loosen the block drain plugs. They loosen easier with the block hot. 2. Allow engine to cool before draining the block.3. Remove the throttle valve disconnecting all hoses. 4. There is a “Y” shaped hose, about 5/8 dia. at the rear of the engine. Remove the a.c.c. valve attached to one of the top legs of the “Y”. 5. Disconnect the hose attached a metal tube on the remaining leg of the Y. 6. Disconnect one end of the small vacuum line, under the “Y” shaped hose, going to the fuel damper. 7. Remove the two bolts attaching the EGR valve to the collector.8. Disconnect the 16 shoulder screws holding the intake collector to the intake manifolds.9. Disconnect one end the PVC hose.10. As you lift the collector, disconnect the two cam cover vents hoses on the right and left sides.11. Lift the left hand side of the collector and disconnect the coolant hose going to the collector near the EGR valve. 12. Remove the collector.13. Remove the two coolant manifolds to remove the two short hoses.14. Install the larger diameter hose with the right hand manifold fist, leaving the hose clamps lose. Soapy water helps the hose installation.15. Deflect the hose enough to allow access to the sealing surface of the L.H. manifold and apply sealant.16. Install the L.H. bolts.17. Use the same procedure for the R.H. manifold.18. Make sure that the harness are not touching the engine as they will burn or ware through.19. Assembly is in reverse order. Please feel free to add or modify and re-post this procedure, if you see fit. Good LuckDon

Can't echo that one strongly enough. You'll drive yourself crazy if you try to save everything. Metal pipes on the underside come off with the plenum. Disconnect them where they meet rubber. Also, oxy sensor lead on driver's side is tie-wrapped to the bracket attached to the back of plenum. Clip it apart before you start tugging.

Rock on, Phil - Good luck!

Fred, can you fix "plenum" in the subject line for Phil? Thanks.
