Just like the title says, my sohc engine is smoking.

The car has been sitting for about 2 weeks or so.(dont know if that'll help any) but around 5 min. after startup my engine starts smoking, where the headers connect to the motor under the spark plugs. First time i noticed it, it had a burning electrical smell(dont really remember the smell, might not be electrical). There also isnt that much smoke, just enough to see that something is definatly wrong.

I would say that it could be that oil is leaking or dripping onto where the headers connect to the motor and burning the oil, but the smoke is white. Or would it only be black leaving the exhaust???

Im thinking about taking it down to a shop either tomorrow or during the weekend because honestly im not really good with motors(still learning )

Anyone have any ideas what it could be? This car is my daily driver mostly just to work so i really need this car up and running. If you have any questions, just ask and i'll try answer to the best of my knowledge, which is much lol

Thanks

Oh and this is only at idling so far. havent really driven it yet, dont want my car to catch on fire(knock on wood)

Valve cover gasket could be leaking. You could make sure all the valve cover bolts are tight, too.

But if you aren't good with motors...yeah, take it somewhere lol.

Good luck.

i was thinking headgaskets to but would burning oil only be black when leaving the exhaust?

But tightning the valve covers seem easy enough to do

Mine was smoking a lot from the engine bay... turned out the circle freeze plug by the header was leaking.... it cost like $1 at Autozone.
