Hello, Please dont flame me because I honestly searched here and everywhere. I do have the FSM for a 90. Cut the speed sensor wire that goes into the ecu and have a lower speed limiter(more like a rev limiter). Even after disconnecting the fifth gear speed sensor ( no fourth gear speed sensor per FSM) with the same result I then reconnected the speed limiter at the ecu. I haven't had a chance to go test again yet, so my ?? is how do I remove the speed limiter in my car? I would greatly appreciate any help. REALLY NEED TO KNOW ! I just got my manifold so I will be kae-t soon and blowing the strip up!!

The speed limiter is a function of the ECU. To my knowledge, it's part of the fueling side of the ECU.

I could be wrong, but I haven't heard of removing the speed limiter by cutting a wire. I'd be kind of curious to hear how the ECU determines when it needs to stop fuel delivery due to excess speed.

Anyone?

do a search on speed limiter here and you should find some threads on it,my car has ka24e and the wire and fifth gear sensor didnt do it but with the fifth gear sensor disconnected did not change anything either. I am starting to think ka24e cant remove speed limiter for free. Please fellows help me with this one!

swap to auto ecu, auto ecu's don't have a speed limiter

you get a slightly more aggressive fuel map also, just have to bump up ur idle a tad to compensate auto ecu.

I went the other way (auto -> manual ecu on an auto) for my own tuning/budgeting reasons.

I know theres a few members on this board who have done it. If you don't believe me, don't do it, no loss to me :p. You can actually search and find more info about this.

The maps are better because they are less conversative, probably has to do w/ the way the auto & manual work.

Actual hard #'s & evidence? no

Butt dyno's from various nico members? yes, search

I've heard of the stanza's ecu doing the job but not the maxima.

the cutting of wires to get around the speed limiter I've heard mixed things about as well. Especially considering that there are quite a few auto ka ecu's floating around you just gotta look and wait for it to come around. I'd recommend the auto ecu vs chop job for the same reason there's a negative connotation associated with the phrase "chop job." It can make a mess with wiring and also cause weirder problems down the road. I have however heard of people adding switches to the transmission wiring to bypass the speed limiter when they want it on and would probably say go with that method vs just flat out cutting the wiring and just leaving it cut.
