My car had been leaking gas for a while now, and it looks like its leaking from where the injector connects to the fuel rail. My Q is Are the rubber O rings the same size for the top and the bottom of the injectors?

I believe there are two different sized o-rings on the top of the injector (into the fuel rail) and one on the bottom (into the manifold). I think one on the top and the one on the bottom are the same size though, because my new o-ring kit came with 12 o-rings (for 4 injectors) and it didn't specify which one goes where.

When you buy an injector kit it will comes with three pieces of rubber.1: Top o-ring that goes on the head of the injector that fits into the fuel rail. 2:THe insulator that goes on top of the body below the head3: Another i think it is called insulator also that fits at the base of the injector that goes into the intake manifold.

Each piece of rubber is different sizes and the only truw o-ring is the top one. The other two act as somewhat gaskets for torqing the fuel rail down. Most places don't sell the kits and only sell the top o-ring since the other two don't wear out that easy. Be warned though I changed out all my o-rings on my car blew out two injectors and had to buy new ones. Some guy on ebay had some nice ones for cheap. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reponds. How long will it take to change the top rubber o ring on the injector? Never worked with the fuel system before...when I unbolt the fuel rail, will the injectors slide right out? Thanks

Remove the harness from the injector (Squeeze underside of clip and it should pull right off).

Remove 2 screws and cap.

Injector can be grasped with a pair of channel lock pliers and GENTLY turned rotated while pulling. Should pop right out.

Use a dental pick or other small object to remove both O-rings and replace.

Coat both o-rings liberally with vaseline.

Rinsert injector. You'll have to press VERY formly to get it to pop in place, but you can't wiggle it - Has to be straight in.

I use an 8mm socket on a ratchet, then you can press it in with the heel of your hand, or give it a good whack with the side of your fist...

Replace screws and harness and roll.

and while you are fussing about how difficult(comparatively speaking) it is to replace side feed injectors, just remember...

nissan used side feed injectors because they are better. it is a better design to have the fuel flow through the injector laterally than then top feed setup. why the gtr has top feeds i dont know. what i do know is that side feeds are better.
