99% sure this is a fuel pump issue. With all the snow here these past 2 weeks I haven't driven the car. Been over a week since I last drove it. Today, car was dead so tried to jump it. No luck, threw a boost charger on it and it has full juice but won't start. Car will turn over forever, sounds like it's juuuust about to start, and it just never does. Since I bought it, there has been a humming sound (which I assume now is from the fuel pump after reading multiple threads on here) which I previously thought was the broken antenna motor. It goes for 5 seconds when I put the key in the ON position and turns off.

Anyways, it will be who-knows-how-long before I can get a new fuel pump (and who knows how much), and was wondering if there is any quick fix for this problem. I heard of some quick fixes that can last as little as a week to as much as a year, I just need something to last til I can get a new pump.

Thanks

Sounds like a bad fuel pump to me.

You can always check the board of the fuel pump control unit, to see if its good or bad.

Lucky for you I have a fuel pum and a control initi which is most like fried by now.

Let me know if you need one or both.

If your humming sound is still there, it's likely that the pump is still working. You might try holding the gas pedal to the floor and holding the key in the start position until it starts or the battery dies... not literally but I would try it for a couple of minutes uninterrupted.

It's possible that your car is flooded, especially if it was started cold, moved a short distance, and shut off before parking it on it's last drive.

Thats could be true, But I read on one of Q45techs posts that the Q45 should be allowed to run at leats 8 seconds or else it will flood.

And I think it was you who said the car should be given at least 10 seconds of warmup on a hot or cold day, Right?

Either Tech or 1990Q45 feel free to correct me.

And to the original poster: are you sure your chaing guides didn't snap?

If not then, you should have them checked unless you have written proof they were replaced by metal ones.

The fuel pump still hums. I tried hooking up a ground on the FPCU cable and unfortunately my car was dead enough I didn't get very far with that. It seemed like it was starting but at that point it just did not have enough juice. I will try to jump it again in the morning with the ground test. Hope it is just my FPCU

8 Seconds? You are confused the car once cranked [in cold conditions]should be allowed to warm up to near operating temperature. Just fast idling this requires 8 MINUTES not seconds.

Everything is tied to coolant temp sensor and how ecu reads it...............cold crank mode where all injectors fire simultaneous takes the place of a separate extra cold start injector [used on Lexus and other V8]
