I am getting a loud squeaking and a little knocking noise from the front suspension of my 167k mile Q. Struts are original. I have been told I need struts, and want an opinion. Stillen sells them for about $100 per corner. Has anyone tried them, they any good?

My mechanic also recommended replacing the top strut mount, but he has not dissabled it to inspect. Should I buy this part just in case?Thnaks

New struts are a good thing, but I doubt they're causing the knocking noise. I would suspect one (or more) of the other items in Jeff's list.

Don't you get squeaking when the upper links start to go bad?

Went thru this. Tokiko Blues and change the upper strut mounts. Be sure the mech checks the upper links while he's in there - I had to replace mine to pass inspection. In reality I'd get the whole shebang from Jeff Williams' list and include the mounts, too.john

I got aqueaking from the upper links, when it was cold. They are just bushings, that after time, start to loosen up. They could start clunking, if they got too bad.

It is a simple replacement, especially if you are replacing the struts. They run about $90 each.

I already got all these parts and had them installed:

I went to get a 4wheel alignment and they said I needed a right side tie rod end, or they could not do a good alignment. I tried to find tie rod ends online and could not. Are they using the wrong name for the part? Thanks

PS: I also did AZhitman's brake kit, and 2000 Q 17/7.5's with 245/45/17 Kumhos, and it is handling great! A couple hundred more HP and it would be perfect :-)

And repalce both tension rod bearings so they are fresh and alignment will be preserved for awhile.
