As the title states, i've inherited a 90 q45, and after taking the front chain covers off, i found the lower right tensioner was completely destroyed, and partialy chewed up in the chain(which i thought would be why the crank would only spin about 80 degrees). I also found the top left tensioner is fractured at its mounting point....great...
So, i've cleaned up all the little pieces, and the crank will still only turn a limited amount in each direction, and the tensioners pop loudly each time i change direction...
I'm a newb to these cars, so i'm trying to figure out if this engine is salvageable...or if its not crap....is it an interference or non interference engine? i'm curious if it somehow jumped timing when the lower right tensioner decided it no longer wanted to do its job.what else could be causing it to "lock up" and not spin more than 80 degrees in each direction? what should i check next? I'm sure i'm going to pull the pan soon, but i'm just looking for a little direction....
any help would be appreciated.
