Q Experts:
I just inherited a '90 Q. A great car but the speakers sometimes squeal when the radio is on. It sometimes changes pitch with the turn signals and brake lights. Sometimes the pitch slowly gets lower until it goes away.
I've been told that the ground is bad or the speaker amps are bad. Any other opinions?
Most likely the amps. Clarion will rebuild (replace) them through Infiniti for $125 each, and there are shops that will fix the bad amps for about $70 each. Stay active on these boards, and you will quickly be promoted from driving mom's car. Welcome!

Thanks for the quick reply! I have been looking for a place to ask a few questions and am glad to have found this site. From what I have read tonight, I'm already planning to buy and install a B&M trans cooler from Summit Racing.
I won't pile on all the questions at once but I am looking forward to learning more about my '90 Q.

Can't emphasize enough how important it is to read the previous posts so your questions are more focused.
Take your time and read a few every night. Do searches on topics of immediate concern.
handy with a soldering iron? Rebuild the amps is not impossible for the DIY'er.
Basically the amps contain about 20 different capacitors. As the capacitors age they start to leak - sqealing, poping and groaning result. For about $15 / amp, you can get all new capacitors and solder then in about an hour and a half per amp.
Have you found a good source for the capacitors? I tried to replace one or two once, but finding the same value (mf) even in one of our older electronics parts houses was difficult.
