yeah, I have a few times, what push pull tool? I just set the PS gears aligned with the marks on the t-belt and clamp the belt to the gears with some visegrips, then go on to align the rest of it.

also nto sure what tool you are talking about? cam locking tool? I've never used one but they sure would make it easier, I finally started using spring clamps to hold the belt on the cam gears as I work the crank gear and tensioner

and fyi the belt procedure is the same on all tt and n/a just a couple of extra hoses to move ont he TT

Thanks guys, I should have explained alittle more. I was using the FSM online from this site. When adjusting the tensioner it says you have to apply 18 lbs of pressure on the tensioner with the tensioner set at 4mm with the stop bolt in place. So do you guys just eyeball it and go? This is what i'm looking at below.

what I do is with the tensioner compressed I push it int the belt, and give the engine a full rotation with a wrench, then I compress the tensioner about hald way and tilt it untill there is no slack in the belt then release the tensioner and the tension should be correct

Dave can you explain your procedure in a little more detail, just reading your short description I think I figured out why my TB jumped. So could you elaborate a bit. I'm gonna be resetting the timing on mine this weekend so it would help a bunch.

what I do it:
take the 2 bolts out of the tensioner so it's only held on with the pivot stud and the tensioner arm is compressed wiht the 6x1.0 bolt

with the belt aligned I pivot the tensioer into the belt and put in the ther 2 bolts, I push it againse the belt and lock it down and remove the 6x1.0

I then use a spacer to put the crank bolt in without bottoming out, and give the engien a full rotation

I then put the 6x1.0 back into the tensioner and do nto tighten it all the way

I then loosen the tensioer mounting bolts and push it firmly against the belt, then I pull the 6x1.0 and I'm done

that help?
