90 ka24e swap for 94 ka24de, in 90 s13, can it be done?

i am about to buy a 1990 s-13 240sx, the car will come with an engine out of a 1994, i know the air conditioning is located on the opposite side of the ka24e than the ka24de, but if i remove, it can the engines be swapped out with-ought, too much trouble considering an engine swap.also, i have a 89 240sx, and the engine has always had an idling problem, for a few seconds when i start it up, the car will rev up to about 2 grand and drop to 1200, again and again for about 10 seconds, then it will just stop and idle at a cool 700, what could be the cause of this, has anyone had problems like this? thanks for the help.
