90 d21 runs BAD

so my 90 D21 startes spitting and sputtering today on ym way home and a little while later I check my plugs and wires to see if something came loose (#3 plug was loose) and when I went to start it back up its still running like poo and doesnt want to stay running even with the pedal to the floor I havent checked spark at the plugs or anything yet because it started to get dark on me

any other ideas? distributor or coil maybe? something fuel related? clogged cat?

I'm in the same situation right now...I went through a big *** puddle and now I am having more problems then i can shake a stick at.

A big help to get me where i have so far was the Haynes book for our trucks, not the greatest but it gives you some helpful bathroom reading!

real meesed up thing is I didnt run thru a puddle

it hasnt rained here in like 2 weeks it just all of a sudden happened

so I changed out the dizzy cap and thats not it it still runs like dogpoo

any other ideas?

Did you change the rotor when you did the cap?

How about plugs and wires?

If those are things that haven't been done in a long time anyways, you might as well do t hem.

OEM parts are best in this case.

actually I changed the plugs and wires out about a month or 2 ago and I just replaced the cap today gonna pull the plugs and recheck them though

ok Im retarded!!!

I was out of gas... but in my defense my gas gauge doesnt work and I did more driving and running around than normal and ddnt realize it

I pulled the fitting off the fuel rail and cranked it over a bunch and there wasnt anything coming out so I thought either I was out of gas or my fuel pump went out and I tried the cheapest fix 1st and lo and behold

NO GAS!

but a couple gallons in and she fired right back up
