is the 90-93 q45 suspension same as the 94-96 models?? by this i mean could i take parts from the 94 -96 models and put them on to the older model q?? reason why i ask is that jic has a set of coilovers for 94-06 models but not for the older ones i just want to be sure that the coilover will fit the older model since mines is a 91 before i buy it

They are very similar, with the main difference in the non-actives being the lower bolt hole on the front shocks is larger, I believe.

Not many kind comments on JIC coilovers nor their customer support on this board. Rebuilding to OEM as new specifications with OEM parts from Joe is what most on this forum choose.

IMO the JIC coilovers are overpriced for what you get. Overall, coilovers dont make a ton of sense to me unless you're racing the car. If all you want is a decent ride with a nice stance, tokico blues and some lowering springs of choice are the best route, IMO.

the94-96 does have a larger mounting point on the bottom in the front only, not significant so you could in theory bore out a 90-93 strut to fit a 94.

yeah wes im going to use the car for drifting in the future so a lot of the parts i will throw on now will be for race. i dont want to get tokkicos and a set of drop springs cause i will only have to sell them to get a set of coils in the next couple of years and since i will only use this car on weekends for now id rather just get coils then have to go through the hassle later

Some have modified Z32 front coilovers to work on the 90-93 Q. Can't recall the thread, but some diligent searching may turn up good results. Also, check with one ton garage, he's got some info on G50 coilovers.

to make Z coils work, the fronts mount up almost perfect, just some modifications needed to the lower mounting point. To the rear a new hat has to be made, but apparently its not a big deal from your local machine shop.

newbie warning. I just got an 90 Q45 and the tension rods are cracked. did some searching and it seems like z32 300zx or s14 240sx rods may fit. The reason i ask is q's are rare in the junk yards and i would like to increasethe possibilities. can anyone verify that?is there an cheap way to fix the tension rods? thnx

The bushings can be replaced, but that requires a press ... sometimes NAPA will do that for you.

IIRC, the other tension rods you mentioned will work, but only if they're the adjustable kind.

The tension rod length set the system CASTER so if they are different by even 1/16" expect changes in CASTER!

Replacement with oem silcone filled is just a NORMAL every 60k expense like shocks and upper links every 30k or sway bar bushings mount isolators.................suck it up and spend liberally with gusto and glee. Do your duty to the car.
