Car cranks and cranks. Will not fire. Here's what I have done:- New plugs, and plug wires,- New ignition coil (from salvage yard)- Fuel pump works, injectors work(all this has made a BIG difference in how it cranks. Seems to be getting more power)

Going to time distrib. and make sure wires are accurate.

Beisdes new ECU, what am I missing??? :help

Any help much appreciated!!!!

Sounds very much like a lack of ignition. Check distributor cap and rotor, make sure the wires are firmly attached off the coil. I doubt it is an ECU problem.

Are you getting ANY ignition of fuel? Or can you smell unburned gas? If you can smell the fuel then the delivery system is fine, and it should be simply an ignition problem. Check the coil to make sure you're getting spark... then go down the line to each plug wire.. (using a screw driver to get the spark).

Give us a little more info if you can... I'm no expert, but I've been down this road before.

I've done the screwdriver thing. The new ignition coil probably put out 2x the spark that the old one did. But I didn't see a whole lot of difference with the plug wires. However, I didn't check it after I put the new wires on. My buddy helping me said a few times that he could smell gas when we were trying to crank, but I never could. I know the plugs are getting fuel from the injectors.

One thing I did leave out, I checked the ECU for codes and it displayed code 13 (Engine Temp. Sensor Circuit) and code 21 (Ignition Signal Missing in Primary Coil). I looked in my Chilton's for over 2 hours trying to find out how to check these two codes, but no help there.

Sorry for the initial vagueness. Thanks for your help!

eah... you need an FSM... Chiltons suck. I would say that the code 21 might be the source of your dilemma. Although, if you are getting a spark, then one would assume it should fire. If you know the injectors are working properly, then you are getting adequate fuel delivery... this is proplexing to say the least.

It is possible that the old (I'm assuming falty) ignition coil sent the ECU trouble signal, and it won't allow the engine to turn over until the ECU is reset. I'm not sure WHY this would be the case, but it's entirely possible.

Try posting this question in the On-line mechanic forum. Dr.john is a damn genious, and I'm sure he'll have ananswer.

For now, I'd reset the ECU and try again.
