Basically since putting in the Redline MT90 I've had a slow annoying leak. It was there a bit before, but not enough to get onto the pavement. Now every once in a while I leave a small little patch.

My 5spd is basically leaking through the 2 harness connections on the passenger side of the transmission. Very slowly, but its getting through there. Are there gaskets or anything that can be replaced? I don't want to pluck them off if fluid is going to start pouring out faster.

Just coming on here to see if anyone else had this problem.

Thanks,

lbrowne

no takers at all? Is there a bushing I can replace in there? Most likely have to redrain the fluid....

you will need to reseal them...go to parts store buy you some sensor safe sealer and hit those b's up with it. Might be alittle messy but not exactly sure, sorry.

Do you mean gunk this stuff all over the connector itself? Doesn't sound like a good way to do it...

if it is actually going through sensors which is possible then new sensor is needed. I am not seeing it so you will just have to make that call.

Well those 2 harness connectors on the passenger side, the only 2 there, if those are sensors then thats what it is. Do they screw out?

I could drain the transmission (just put in MT-90 over a month ago argh), and then replace the sensors if they're something I can locate cheaply. The sensor must have a gasket on them?

yes if i understand what you are talking about...not sure if drain is nessecary, just do it fairly quick and not a whole lot will get out.

Sorry to jack your thread, I know this is an old thread....almost a year old!

I have the exact same issue with my 92 240sx, The trans is leaking through/from those two sensors on the passenger side, i cant really tell....my trans is covered with this gear oil. but the gear oil seems to be "fresher" near those two sensors.

Did you every found out how to fix this issue.

Do anyone know what those two sensors are? If so are they hard to replace?

Please give me any info on this topic, these slow leaks are a PIDA

thanks in advance

try cleaning the whole area with brake cleaner and when its dry, monitor the area for the wet spot to build up and it can give a area on which the leak is coming from Iit happen to and i found out it was coming out from the transmission seal in the front housing

Those sensors really don't do anything. I'd just seal around them the best I can. They're just used to see what rear your in. Besides the one for reverse, the other ones you don't have to use. Only thing the reverse does is turn on your reverse lights. So doesn't really matter if you mess them up in anyway. Or remove them and put in a plug.

thanks for all the replies guys!

Plan to clean the whole transmission and remove all the sensors, reseal/reinstall.....and see if i get any more leaks.....it might not be a one shot deal (but i hope so!) its so hard to find plain old GL-4 gear oil around where i live. Only kind i can find is Redline and they are a bit costly.

What kind of sealant should i use? regular good old teflon tape?

thanks again
