I was looking over my car and reading up on distributor cap and spark plug...

I came across the following diagram about the firing order and rotation of the distribution cap on my 1990 240SX S13. Below that, is a picture of my actuall cap. It appears different as the numbers don't align. I followed the cables and they appear to enter the correct port on the engine based on the numbering scheme shown. As a neophyte, is that because the rotor is aligned to fit this position? Because at first glance, it looks backwards. I'm planning on my first DIY spark plug/cap/rotor change (once I fix some other problems) and want to make sure. Also, as my Cap is a HItach, I assume the rotor is as well?

yes your rotor will match your cap. the clocking(or angle) of the cap doesnt matter (firing order wise) but does make a difference in timing. so dont adjust that. if it is your first timel, my biggest chunk of advice is to swith the wires to the new cap one at a time. take it off the old one, and immediately onto the new one, just to make sure firing order stays same. you have a diagram, so its not as big of deal, but i forgot and popped them all off the first time i did it. (about 7 years ago) good luck and have fun.
