90 240sx problem

just recently my car started acting up. fisrt problem was car doesnt wanna up shift into second gear (automatic), second problem was rattling noises coming from the back of my car no idea what it is just loud rattling noises, and third problem is my speedometer needle just drops to 0. help mee please !

shift solenoid possible for the transmission. oise from the back, obviously something is loose. most likley on your exhaust, nit sure about the spedometer but prolly a short somewhere

wow, question. Did you try typing "shift solenoid" into Google before you responded with "hm whats a shift solenoid?" ? If not, I suggest you try it. Just to see what may or may not happen...

Did you think all of these things would be cut and dry/anyone can do it without knowing anything type repairs? Just please, think about it - you yourself KNOW that you do not know what you're up against. So at this point you are your own best ally because you know not to trust your own judgement. That said, before you try anything, it ONLY makes SENSE to arm yourself with quite simply AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE!!! As in, on your own. (this is to raise the potential success rate.) So research. If you want to know about something, LOOK IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have a question you're mulling over about something specific, ask. If you are stumped ask. But please try to be self sufficient to at least some minor degree.

It would be cheaper to replace the transmission with a known good transmission rather than to fix whats wrong with your current one. You could get a low milage auto transmission for less than 100 bucks. everyone just throws those babies out for a 5 spd. Whats your location? do you live in cali. i would be willing to sell you mine. its got 98,xxx miles on it. i took it out becuase i wanted a 5 spd.

no i dont live in cali. im in vancouver canada. im just wondering would a ka24de transmission work on my ka24e engine or would i have to get a ka24e transmission?

Same exact transmission. My 90 uses sohc trans on dohc.

well my swaps done took us all day yesterday and a bit this morning. just took the car for a drive shes perfect now, but im still having that rattling sounds in the back of my car. could it be my cat being lose or exhaust hangers? plus the speedo needle still drops after i let go of the gas when i go over 40-50kmph

Its must be the speedometer itself. IF your done with that 5spd swap and plugged in the new speedo sensor from the manual trans its deffinitly not the speed sensor. gotta be your speedometer, you should go pick one up. I dont know what to say about your rattling you were under the car all day yesterday, did you look around? LOL

yeah i have plugged in the new speedo sensor. ill just prolly get a new gauge cluster from an s14 . as for the rattling i did look under the car when i had it up on a hoist at school, didnt see anything my teacher said he couldnt find anything also. so i think its my cat heatshield thats loose prolly. hoping not.

cool sounds like your slowly getting it all together, just a heads up. A s14 cluster wont work on a s13, ok. good luck with your mystery raddle and your speedo. Post some pics up of your car if you already havnt and introduce yourself.

oo s*** really? hm guess ill have to find a s13 cluster then. yeah ill post pics of my car soon jus havent charged my cam batts.
