I just bought this car for $500. I was expecting to drop a new motor in it, but the motor in it now has some life left in it. THe car has 92000 miles on it. The motor will turn over and try to fire but it won't. THe spark plugs have spark and the fuel pump seems to be pumping fuel. Any suggestions on what to do?thanks

Measure the rail fuel pressure and the compression in all cylinders. If they're good, then check the spark timing.

I would, but I start college in the fall and I got to save money.

I'm checking the compression tomorrow, so I check the fuel rail pressure to.

Try holding the throttle open and crank it.

thanks for the help, but it turns out the fuel injectors were not putting fuel in the engine. THey were clonged up so I did a little bit of cleaning and the car started.

if you smell a lot of gas while driving, the injectors could be leaking and you should replace them. nissan told me this was a problem for these cars. the 300zx also had this problem, only they got a factory recall. Also, now would be a good time to do some 240 reserch and decide on your plans for the car, as far as modifications you may want to do in the future.
