i was at the stop light yesterday.. light turns green and as soon i step down on the clutch to stick it in first gear i hear and as soon as the clutch reaches the bottom i hear a "cluck" sound and it wouldnt go in to gear at all... so i forced it in to 1st gear..(loud knock) but it went in.. i parked it up, and left it there.. i tried to put it in to gear later on in the day.. it wouldnt go in to gear at ALL... when the car is off the it goes in to all the gears fine.. but when i start it it would never go into gear... also when i was at the light the clutch pedal itself twisted to the right...so now the clutch pedal is at a slant, very near to the brake pedal.. i dont see why it is moving to the right and not straight down.... ill try to get some pics of it...

could this be the release bearing? causing this or the pressure plate? thanks! any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the pedal has come off of its pivot?

thanks for replying, so it might be off the pivot, ill have to take a closer look at it and see how to fix that... could you tell me the easiest way to try to look at it and put it back in to position? hopefully this solves the whole problem. thanks!

Open the driver door, get on knees, shine a light on the pedals, and look at the pivot point. If it's crooked, straighten it. If not, something else is wrong.

yeah could be like what happened to me, snapped at the spot welds where the bracket to the master cylinder meets to the bracket that holds the actual pedal.

yes, thats exactly what happend with this clutch pedal it snapped the welds, ive tried fixing it, jb weld, channel lock, clamps, but its just not working!

180fan what did you do to fix this? i just dont know what else to do.. its so hard to move around in the tight little area. the only other option i can think of is trying to drill two holes on opposite ends of the bracket and running a bolt with a nut right thru. but its just too tight down there to put a drill in and drill.... thanks guys.

What did I do to fix it? Well if you're looking to get it back on the road real quick...

1. Get it spot welded then pull out a small drill bit and rivets. Spot weld around the edges of the little tabs that come up where the original welds were and use the rivet at the center. 2. call your dealer for a new bracket. lol

The one I had came from a clip and wasn't painted or coated or anything like that. It had what I assumed to be surface rust and went over it lightly with a wire brush before...but living near the beach the salty sea air likes to take it's toll on bare metal. The new one I got was about 30 shipped iirc and was powdercoated black.
