I don't know about the whole junior backyard mechanic replacing the timing chain thing, but its not that hard to do. And yes a header and camshaft mod is a good start. I'd personally start with a header/ exhaust combo though. APEXi, BRM, HKS, GReddy, they all make good exhausts for the 240sx. DC Sports make a good header for the 240sx, also Hot Shot, and Jim Wolf make headers for it too. While your at it you probably want to go with an intake, Injen or AEM probably. Maybe cam gears while your in there. I don't know if internals are really a job for the average backyard mechanic, but if you've got a couple thousand to play with, I'd probably go with some high comp. pistons, billet connecting rods, titanium valve springs, but that is a whole different ball game right there.
