90 240SX High Idle Problem

The idle adjustment screw is all the way in and I cant lower the idle more than 1200rpm. I pinched the 1in hose under the intake to test for vacuum leaks and the car started to die, whats the problem?? bad IACV??

squeeze the hose that branches off to air regulator when the car is warmed up. If idle drops, you know you have a air reg. stuck open. also, squeeze the hose right at the iacv and see what happens.

yup the idle drops down to about what it should be when the hose is pinched, but tonight was weird, it was idleing at 800-900, why all of a sudden would it idle right.

the pic is for 91-94. not sure how different yours is. if you are squeezing the branch that goes to air regulator than you know it is air regulator. if idle goes to 900, air regulator is not open a that instant in time.

Hey,

I need some help with what i believe to be the same problem. My 89 240 only revs above 1000 when i drive her past 65 or i take turns a little too hard, or drive a little fast, not passing 3300 rpm before i shift. She doesn't over heat or anything else. This is the only thing wrong with her.

Any suggestions would be great!!!

My car is idleling at 1200 was at 1500 when it should be like 750 when i accelarate the rpm drop and then go up i squeezed the line that goes to the air regulator and iacv and the rpms dropped i squeezed the line where it connects to the intake tube also it didnt want to start because it had to much fuel in the engine is it because bad injetor(s)?sometimes i would move the 1 injector and the rpm would drop a little
Can anyone help me?

I think i fixed the problem my coolant temperature sensor did not have a good connection i cleaned the plug and the sensor and now it responds without the rpms dropping then rising and idle is at 750 to 700 now :biggrin: I hope this was the problem
i checked this sensor because i saw it in a different forum and the guy had the same problem
