There's this squeaking noise coming from the rear driver's side wheel when the car's moving. When the brakes are applied (even lightly) the squeaking goes away and when I let go of the brakes it goes back.

What seems to be the problem? Does it need new brake pads ?

90 240sx.. 108k miles.. 5spd ..w/o ABS

thanks

you could check the brake pads, although when they are worn they have more of a squeal and it would increase when you hit the brakes. you could try that brake quiet stuff, as the squeal could be coming from a pad as it touches the rotor and there is nothing to keep it from resonating.

there was somthing else that i was gona say to check, but i cant remember what i was going to say.

just give her a good brake check. pull the wheels and poke around. clean them off with brake cleaner.

its not really a squeal, its more of like a constant squeaking...as the car moves faster, the squeak goes faster as well..i havent tried the brake quiet stuff yet but thanks for your input though

i like to spray off the calipers, pads, and rotors with brake clean just in case there is some oil or something on the friction surface.
