I bought a used Kenwood KDC-MPV619 head unit last week and it was working great until four days ago. After buying some used subs in a box as well as an amp and hooking it up to the head unit, everything seemed fine until I drove home. When I was playing with the pre-sets of the head unit, it just died. It made no sound like anything was shorted out, it just died and never turned on again.

I searched the forum and did what some people did, placing the ground on a bolt near the shift boot, as well as checking the interior light fuse, electronic fuse, audio fuse and the fuse on my head unit. But it still hasn't worked.

I don't know what else to do or look for, so I'm going to you guys for help before I just take it to an audio place to check it out and maybe charge me a grip.

Probably the ground or the power wire just came loose when you were messing with it when you were hooking up the amp to it.

Where did you ground it to?

I grounded the unit to one of the four bolts around my shiftboot.

You don't have to ground it that far. I grounded mine to the bolts that hold in the head unit. Maybe the place that you grounded it to isn't a ground. Try what I did and just see if it works. Then check all the wires.
