Sup guys, I tried searching this topic around a few places and actually found someone with same problem but no one knew what to do so I'll try my hand here.

I recently bought a 1990 240sx off someone who said there really wasnt much wrong with the car he gave me a list of the things and it was nothing serious. One thing that didn't seem very problematic at the time was the fact he said he tried to do a radio swap by himself and it didnt work out right so he left it "alone" and has the wires all undone. He delivered the car to my house and it was working fine so I wasn't too worried. This is where the problem starts:

I turn it on, it runs the same as how he delivered it. I readjust the steering wheel upward to better fit my self in and try to put the car in reverse, I stall. I go to restart the car and I get a cranking sound like its trying to start but it won't start. I try a few more times and in fear of messing up the starter I stop. I come back to it later in the day after work, hit the clutch, turn the key, all electrical systems turn off. Car wont start. I start hitting buttons to see if its a relay or a short somewhere and I get a buzzing sound from my hazard lights. I take battery to work (pepboys) to charge it on our machine and the car starts up but alot of things arent working and everything else that is, isn't working right. Headlights wont stay on, left turn indicator blinking rapidly on the dash but not turning on and back lights not on. No lights inside of the car but the hazard lights and highbeams work. AFter that I turn the car off after I let it warm up to see if it'll start again, cranking and no start.

Any thoughts?

ok i guess that question was far too general. do any of you tink that a bad fuel pump relay could be draining the battery thus causing everything electrical in the car to mess up or is it more like a short somewhere, any tips on how to check would be appreciated

If adjusting the steering column is what caused you to start having problems, then I would start there. I would take the under dash and steering shroud apart and check the IGN harness and plug. Test to make sure you have power on the ignition wire when the key is on. If not, that is your problem. Check to see if any of the ignition wires were modified or tapped into for other electrical connections.... radio, alarm, gauges etc. If you don't have ignition power when cranking it won't start. Report back.
