90 240sx almost ran out of gas.. now car runs bad

i almost ran out of gas about 5 weeks ago and it started hestisting real bad. i figured i got some trash from the bottom of the tank, so i put some berrymans fuel system cleaner in it and gas and within a mile it was fine. than yesterday i started it up (temp outside was 34 degrees) and i drove like a mile and next thing u know it started hesitating again. so i figured it might be the fuel filter is had junk in it. so i changed it and no change at all. i have 99k miles on it stock motor and it has never ran bad any suggestions b4 i do the worst thing and go get it diagnosed. thanks alot

ok i just changed the spark plugs becuz i pulled off the spark plugs and the were very carbonized and i also noticed when i changed them i was hoping it would do the trick but no luck either.... so i check each cyclinder by turning the car on and taking each spark plug wire off and seeing if it made it worse. all of them made the car run worse (almost dieing) besides cylinder 3 i took off the wire and it had no change. ne1 have a clue what it could be(fuel injtr clogged???)... thanks alot guys

So you removed the plug wire on #3 cyl and no change? Sounds like you've got a bad coil or a bad wire.

how about changing the fuel filter thats what it sounds to me

swap around the fuel injectors and see what happens.. put the #3 injector to another cylinder and see if that one stops functioning.

btw if your car runs on 3 cyl it will sound like a subaru :P at least you can tell if you have an exhaust i'm not sure if you can with a stock one.

sounds to me like the injector failed. its possible you overheated the injector when you ran it out of gas. you can probaly get away with replacing one injector, but i recommend replacing all 4.

check the posts on the cap, clean them. Check the rotor, and clean contacts, check coil. But mainly sounds like Injector foul
