Hi, i am new to this forum, so please forgive if any errors.

I bought my 1990 240sx 5 speed hatchback few days ago. PERFECT Conditions and for only 600!!

well, i knew from the beginning that there was a noise, at first i thought, "hmm. is the rod bearings." but then when i started driving it, i notice that when i press the clutch in it goes away!!

its a noise of metal rubbing. Funny things is that it goes into first gear, 2nd, 3rd, 4, 5, and R.
1st gear makes lots of noise,
2nd a bit less but still makes noise
3rd a bit of noise
4th not so much
5th can barely notice,
HOWEVER! on
R it sounds like a thunderstorm or like a building being demolished!!!

Looking around the web i stumbled into this vid.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbB2ZlTgs9A

the noise the car is making is similar to mines!

Now it is truth, i will have to remove or loosen the transmission anyways, but the fact is that i am being offered a trans for 350 dollars right now,

Please help me, if the flywheel is bad i can buy one for 70.0 dollars, if is something like the internals (all the gears, bearings, and so on) then i might as well get another transmission.

PLEASE HELP! thanks a lot!

350 sounds a bit high for a transmission.

yeah but my buddy says that it has been rebuilded and he will give me everything new.

but back to the topic. DO u think is the flywheel, and if so what is the easiest way to loose the transmission without having to pull it out completely.

thanks. xD

yep, i still haven't had time to unattach the transmission. my father says it can not be the flywheel since the flywheel is completely attach to the engine, he says that is probabbly the whole gear box (everything inside) since when the clutch is engaged, the internals stop moving, once the clutch is out of place the flywheel-clutch starts to move and all the internals start scratching...

quick test for the through out bearing is to just barely press the clutch in while in neutral ,not enough to disengage it. you still want the interals of the trans spinning
