90 240 speed gov

Hey after an incodent tonite, i realized id like to remove my governer. I did some research on the site and found out about using a switch to kill the lines to the transmission, loosing your spedo and rev limiters. i remember also reading about cutting a wire from the computer? but it was from a guy who posted twice on the site months ago. Is there actually a wire i can cut and thats it? no gov?

On another note, my old 240 was rebuild with a manual transmission and still had the auto computer. dash worked, and it ruled out the governer. i still have the automatic computer. would it be worth it to cut wires, or swap a computer in. Anyone have any history with dealing with computers?

Yeah there should be a yellow wire with a green stripe in the ecu wiring harness, it will get rid of the speed limiter and will still allow the speedo and odometer to work. Altough im not sure if the '90 ecu wiring (color wires)is the same as in other years but i imagine it is

what about for the sr... just checking do the sr have a gov... cuz i jus got one...

im gonna have to pull it out and take a look. Myabe check nissan if they have wiring diagrams. Id rather cut one wire then rip my computer right out. Allthough i do have that spare one...

Don't go guessing with cutting wires, especially with someone on here "assuming" it's the same.

If you got the auto ECU there, it's a no brainer. Install it.

i used an auto ecu. also an alternative is a speed limit cutter that apexi makes but thats prolly more trouble than its worth.

I got ahold of some wiring diagrams for a 90 240. according to these wiring diagrams the only yellow wire with a green stripe actually controls your gauge cluster. Dont think ill cut that one. lol computer swap it is!
