Okay, so I was shopping around on ebay and found those people selling these resistors to put in place of your IAT for about $25 + S&H. They advertise up to a 20 hp. increase and it is just as good as having your ecm recalibrated. Now, I know well enough to see past all the B.S., but they do have a good idea. Being an electronics tech I figured I could do the same thing for less than a buck and a trip to radio shack. I just need to know the resistance values for the IAT sensors. If anybody could answer that question for me I would be ever grateful. And after I do this mod I will put up a post letting everybody know how well it worked. I surely dont expect 20 hp. but hey any extra pep is always welcome.

You shouldn't fool the ECM into reading false temps

but whatever floats your boat

Well s3 that is all a matter of opinion. I have seen GM guys do it for years without any trouble. In fact it is a pretty common thing to do to get a little boost.Usually they move the IAT far away from the engine to get a much cooler air reading, but installing an inline resistor accomplishes the same thing much easier. All that it does is trick the ecm into giving it more fuel and timing. Very similar to an ecm remap, however the ecm remap is much more accurate and would be the best route to go if you dont know what you are doing. But, Im cheap and I am an experienced and certified auto electronics technician so something like this doesnt scare me. However like I said before I dont think that anybody should just go sticking a resistor inline if they dont know what they are doing. Im just looking to save a buck and tinker with my car is all.

Like I say, whatever floats your boat, since you are a certified auto electronics technician why wouldn't you do something more beneficial like

http://www.zcontrol.net

that?

BTW, the SR/KA portion of is already being tested.

just try it, the worst that could hapen is the timing may change a little and you may run a little rich, you could just solder the thermistor (is that the correct term?) back on.

Well s3 to answer your question I am also lazy and havent done much looking around for anything other than an ecu remap. And by the way I hope you didnt think that I was being a smart@$$ because that wasnt my intention. But I will check out this link whenever I get a little time this evening. And as for what you said 240 kid, no soldering would be required for testing purposes unless you want it to be permanent. Basically you can just insert the little wires of the resistor into the terminals at the IAT connector. I even think that is all that these gimmicks they are selling on ebay require you to do. Thanks for the feedback guys,

Phil
