90 240 door locks

ok so my door locks will lock if i push them. then when i close it it unlocks. why? or sometimes it pushes back like it doesnt wanna lock why?

Hold the door handle up when you close the door and see if that does anything

Actually pull the inner door handle out when locking the lock and it should stay locked.
