I think they need to kick up their population control program a notch. There ain't no damn way I'd sit in that mess.

That's hilarious! A mini economy sprawled from it! Could you imagine your excuse for work in that kind of traffic jam? Sorry I'm late boss! Traffic was killer! Been out there since Easter!

Glad its not only America where the other side of traffic is in a jam because they are all watching the other side.

If this happened in the United States people would be killing each other by now.

But they didn't say how long it took to drive the 100-km stretch. That is what I want to know. Or did I miss that somewhere?

Yep, and in this country, don't forget the filing of 25,000+ separate lawsuits against the accident participants, the car manufacturers of each vehicle involved in the accident, the company that owned the vehicles (if commercial), the EMT's, tow truck/recovery service, police, fireman, the designer/engineering firm that designed the roadway, and the town in which the accident occurred.

does it take a week to get from one end to the other? I don't like being in traffic for 9 minutes, much less actual days....

"Traffic was slowed down to a snail's pace"

That's it.

I need a quantitative explanation of that speed in order to do the math. Google tells me a snail moves about 60 mm per minute, so 100 km would take roughly 1157 days... Unless I screwed the math up.

You have to adjust the speed for relative size.

Well, in that case, the snail moves roughly 4 times its body length every minute. So considering a car is roughly 4 meters in length it would move roughly 16 meters per minute. That would require roughly four days.

How many times did I say "roughly" in that post. Word of the day I guess.

If I heard the radio correctly when they were talking about this earlier today, "experts" expect the current traffic jam to last 3 months.
