searched and couldnt find clear answer, ok, a friend of mine has a 99 eclipse RS, his stock headlights are 55watt bulbs and have that 'yellowish' tint (like all stock bulbs other than HID), he bought 8owatt HID SIMULATES that have the blue tint he wants (looks good but i dunno), all im asking, is, is it safe to run an 8o watt bulb off of the 'made for 55 watt' connectors and such, or will he blow a fuse or screw up his circuit??

Well about the worst that would happen is he melts the harnesses or the bulbs will just blow out but nothing too terribly major. It is just a PITA if the harness melts.

OFS is right. My 94 Civic went through 3 harnesses and several bulbs before I pulled my head out of my a$$ and went back to stock wattage.

I'd appreciate anything you can do to keep one more car with poorly adjusted blinding blue headlights off the road. ;)

yeah they will melt.. tell him to go buy a real HID convirson if he really wants the look they are coming down in price only about 500$ now.. not too too bad.. i got some GE "yellow filter" sealed beam bulbs in my S13, and all i can say is it was worth every penny.. i love the things.. they arnt blue (if u look at them they still look yellow) but when driving tthey are whiter and a whole lot brighter.. probily the best thing i have bought for my car yet....

i got H4 Piaas (read:illegal) greatest bulbs ever. i had piaa's on my other car before. they're good. they're just aimed a little high, but the aiming bracket's screws are rusted and i couldn't aim them any lower. but no one highbeams me so i guess it's ok.

well i was riding in his car last nite, and they look ok, but kinda goofy cuz left one is aimed too low, and when ur drivng, they give damn near no light!!!< its more or less nice from the outside, i cant even tell his lights are on, and he's lookng at getting whole new fixtures for his car, so i ugess his lights wont be too much of a problem in the near future, and also, $5oo is pretty expensive for some damn headlights, but i want em, if i planned on keeping my car for a long time, id get em
