I'm considering buying a pre-'93 240sx. I have some quesions though. First of all,
1. What is the difference between the '91 LE and the base/SE?
2. Are those ugly things the only rims available for '89-'90?
3. Do all '91-'93 have the same 7-spoke rims?
4. What makes the SE the sports editions, probably stiffer suspension, is the HICAS only on the SE?
5. How much slower is the SOHC 240sx considering it is just a bit lighter and has a bit closer gears?
6. Are the body panels different from '90 different from '91?
7. Would anybody suggest getting a SOHC 240sx?
8. What makes the resale of the 240sx so *****ing high?
9. What RPM do 240sx's run @ 60 mph in 5th gear?
10. Do '89-'90 240sx have rear spoiler, '91+?

The LE is the "Leather" Edition, that's the only major difference.

There are actually 3 different types of rims, and yeah, they're all pretty ugly, but 1 of the sets are alloys, which make them ok.

No, some are steelies, the 7 spokes are the alloys.

Nothing makes it the sports edition, it just is the sports edition, really the only that that gets you guaranteed is the alloy wheels.
5. How much slower is the SOHC 240sx considering it is just a bit lighter and has a bit closer gears?
The SOHC is about half a second slower in the quarter mile, if that's what you're asking.
6. Are the body panels different from '90 different from '91?
Only the front end. Everything else is the same but the front bumper has a different design and theres fender "fillers" almost on the 91+.
7. Would anybody suggest getting a SOHC 240sx?
Depends on what you're going to do with it, if you plan on swapping they're cheaper and easier to come by.
8. What makes the resale of the 240sx so *****ing high?
The fact that there are tons more civics produced in one year than there were ever 240s produced.
9. What RPM do 240sx's run @ 60 mph in 5th gear?
Just under 3000 in the SOHC.
10. Do '89-'90 240sx have rear spoiler, '91+?
Yes, they both come with the rear spoiler as an option. They're both the same spoiler, it's the foam construct that leads to lots and lots of rust.
I made another post about all the specific options that each model comes with, the model doesn't make a huge difference though. It matters a bit more in the 95+ where the distinguishing feature is 4 lug hubs vs. 5 lug hubs.
