The best i can find to fit the factory 4x6 in the rear hatch area of my 89 SX are some 4" 2 way from MBQuart. The problem is i have 140watts waiting for whatever gets put in. Im running a single L7 12" with 800 watts for bass. It is overpowering everything else i can find, which is why im going to 140 watts. Has anyone else found any other high end solution ? or maybe had custom mounts made ?

If you put those 4's in... it can work... you will have to put a crossover on those though at about 250hz. that would work, they would get loud and not distort. I had to to that to some 3.5's getting 50watts RMS 100 max in my first car (88 Cavalier). They screamed, but they did not have a bottom end at all obviously. Get some sound deadening material and put it in there with the speaker and it should sound pretty wicked.... by the way... when it has come to small drivers (such as 3.5's or 4's) I have found that JBL has had the highest power handling and highest output of all small loudspeakers at any price. Mind boggling as they are really not expensive at all. Good Luck man!

I have all concepts in my altima, and I like them. But I'm not much into sound systems.

The easiest way would be to get 6x9 spacers and put in some 6x9's. I took a jig saw to the metal in the back of my 89, 3 blades later I had room for two 6x9 and two 10's, or 4 6x9's. But if you use spacers you won't have to cut any metal. Mount them towards the front of the car as possible to clear the window raising them up too high and they hit the rear window. I don't know if they make 6 1/2 spacers, but every sound shop has 6x9 spacers it seems. Good luck
