Well here is the story Im at a light around 2 in the morning just getting out of my girls house, windows down just enjoying the noise from my recently installed muffler and high flow cat. Suddenly I hear a loud noise which happens to be a Mr2. I look at the guy and he revs the engine so i quickly glance around and see there is nobody around and all i see in front of me is about half a mile of free road hmmmmmm. I put the car in first and rev mine. Car sounds so much deeper than that mr2. I figure I can take him because my little brother has an 85 mr2 N/A and I get him all the time. So anyways green light! I take off beautifully! little screech and go I have to say i was with the mr2 till 4 thousand rpm in second and then he smoked me. I felt so horrible but his mr2 was a supercharged model and what can i say. I guess those cars are really fast and i imagine really light. No biggy its times like those that make you want to go big and get a turbo. hahaha!

What? Supercharged MR2? Since when? There's turbo MR2s, and N/A ones. I've never heard of anyone supercharging an N/A because they might as well swap a turbo engine in there...

Evidently you only know the MKII generation of MR2's. :-) The older (85-89) MR2's had a I4, but the 88's and 89's I believe were also offered in a supercharged version from the factory. Just something to help people foresee the future. The MKII's (1991-1995 in the US), had the 2.2 liter I4, and the 2.0 liter turbocharged I4 (3SGTE, if my Toyota memory serves me correctly). Both generations are fun cars, but the stick feels like crap. Much improved on the Spyder, or so I hear . . . ;-)

Hehe, no problem. This is what you learn when you spend 2 years research what will be your first car. ;-)

I had an opportunity to drive one of those with an HKS overdrive pulley in it, yikes! The car doesn't have enough wheelbase for the power, felt like it would spinout at any moment but dam what a slingshot, Funmeter was pegged! They carried the supercharged 4AG engine foward in the Corolla levins and treunos AE92 and AE101, very pissed off little four-bangers commonly swapped into hachirokus to great effect.

Hehe, yeah. I wanted a MR2 as a first car for a long time, before realizing that I couldn't afford the insurance, I could only get the cheaper N/A model (which is slow), there are rare as hell, and that small factor of my parents saying no. :-) Then came the dreams of a Z32 (daddy had one, said no), and then the compromise of the 240 came about with safety in mind . . . little did parents know of the drifting fun that can be had with the 240. ;-)

LOL! yeah i know hoe that goes bro! I 1st, believe or not wanted a civic SI of course cuz my boy was all about me getting one. This is when i first started to get into import cars. Then i wanted a Z32 also but me dad just laughed in my face once he found out how much teh Z32 TT was. (which is bull b/c my sister will be becoming driving age real soon and she wants an 05' stang or VR4 and my dad will get it for her dady's lil gurl) Then my dad got me an S13 adn i was liek alright let me find out some things on this. became a ricer adn got a veilside kit. got into an accedint got another S13 then i was thincking about getting an MR2 over the summer once i sold this car but now im all about power and the money i want to put into so i could be "all mine" work anyway!:D

I own a 90 s13 and the mr2 N/A is just as quick. Themadscientist is right though the car is to small for all that power is does not turn as well as the 240 but in a straight line both mr2's N/A and Supercharged will give the 240 a run. And yes 88-89 did come with the option of supercharged. Probably one of the unsafest cars ever! But man is it fun to drive.

Haha, man, I know where you're coming from. I bought my S13 in November, and I think it made my dad jealous because he no longer has a sports car. (And he's had them all . . . 240Z, Porsche, Corvette, Alfa, Fiero, 300ZX, everything). Which makes me happy, knowing I have a "proper" (not FWD) sports car. :-) Other than putting over $3000 into fixing my $2000 car, it's been tons of fun. Even with the new KA, I want more power, so once I'm out of high school (junior year sucks a_s_s), I'll pick up an SR, and rebuild it completely, and then look for 350Z's to terminate. ;-)

the supercharged mr2's were only t-top models though. making them even more dangerous, and flexible. the 4agze is a bad *** motor though and is much cooler in an ae86 or hard top mr2. :batman

Never new the older ones had a SC either. That is a new one to me. I think the MKII's look alot nicer then the older ones that is the only reason I never looked into them.
