89 Sr20det Defi tach problems

So i finally saved up and got some money to pick up some defi gauges because i was sick of not having a tach. So i get all excited, install everything, start up my car and every gauge works except for the Tach?? I am 100% positive that it is hooked up correctly to the Yellow/red wire. Does anyone know where the yellow/red wire comes from? Or is there anyway that i can test the wire to see if there is any signal?THANKS!
