hey, first of all i wanted to say thanks for clicking my post and attempting to help me out. i got a 89 sohc coupe, 100% stock. a while back my hazard lights stopped working. my turn signals work fine, i replaced the switch with a good known working one still nothing. the fuse by the kick panel was blown, so i replaced that but still nothing, when i put the new fuse in i check to make sure it was getting power with a fuse tester and it was. the turn signals work fine. and when i press the hazard switch when the car is off and i switch the turn signal switch up or down it will work even if the car is off. but when its not switched on, it acts normal. i was pulled over on the highway and i noticed its a big safety hazard to not have them on in those situations so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your timing control unit. It's behind the driver side kick panel. It's a little white box.

You can pull the plastic cover off. The traces burn up pretty noticeably when they go.

Ok, well I didn't pull the cover off but, I pulled the white box out of my car and replaced it with Another one I had in my other car that was working fine ( meaning all turn signals and hazard lights were functioning properly) and i still have the same problem. I really hope it's not a major problem but it's really important to have those lights working.

Have you checked the combination flasher unit? The flasher unit itself could be bad.

Where is this unit located? I've never heard of it.

Oh I know what ur talking about, the relay under the driver side dash correct? It's kind of hidden by the steering columb. Yes I've replaced that with a known working one and I have the same problem.

Yeah, that's the unit I'm talking about. The fact that you initially found a blown fuse, replaced it, replaced both the flasher unit and flasher switch, but can only get the flasher to work by having the turn signal on, etc. makes me wonder if you have a short somewhere. Check the FSM for this car, specifically pages EL-50 and 51. That may help you trace the circuit. That's all I have to offer. Good luck.

I have no idea on how to follow wiring diagrams. i tried looking up youtubes/ searching via internet. but it seems like nissan has some complex diagrams. i believe i read a article where it said that the flasher relay has a led inside of it and you can test it to see if the relay works? can anyone comfirm this? the relay that i pulled didnt have a led anywhere. so im thinking i pulled the wrong relay maybe? also when i turn my signals on i do not hear the noise that usual comes on when they flash on and off ( kind of like the door chime)
