Alright guys, so heres whats up. I got an s13 w/ the sr swap already done, but not yet in running condition.( just needed new radiator and exhaust.)
Well the parts showed up today.. i installed them and everything fit great. So when i tried starting it.. it was cranking, but it just wouldnt turn over. My first thought... NO SPARK.
So to check the spark, i took off a coilpack with the plug still in it and tried starting it again, but no spark was developed. I did the same with the other three.. and got the same result. NO spark in all 4 cylinders!!

I honestly have no idea where to even start!!
I NEED HELP ASAP!!!!

Hmm, sorry if I get this wrong because I don't own an SR but if it has an external coil then unplug it from the distributor and check to see if you get spark that way, if not then it's most likely your coil is bad and needs to be replaced. Try replacing the wires, plugs, and distributor cap and button and see what's up as well. Doesn't hurt to do all that.
Hope you get it fixed man. :gotme

Hey brent, thanks for the reply.
i dont think this engine has a distributer. It just goes from the coilpacks straight into the wiring harness.
But, apparently the person i bought the car from just used the ka harness, and modified it to fit the sr.. (did all the wiring himself). So maybe the wiring was done wrong??
Iv been reading some other forums and they said that it could be the CAS, ECU, or the ignitor chip. I'm not exactly sure how to test any of those, and im not sure which one i should start with.
But i dont think its the ECU because when i turn the ignition to ON.. the red light glows.
Any ideas anyone!?!?!
Iv gotta fix this ASAP!!!

Your probably going to need a AMP meter to check spots to see if your getting voltage there.
There is a possiblity that the wiring is incorrect.
Check your ignitor chip, happened to a friend and it was that.
Also check the simple things, sparkplugs, make sure they are gapped correctly.

I had the same problem during my swap, however it was just a fuel issue.

i would just hook up a different one and see if that fixes it. but that might be a problem depending on where you live and who you know...

Alright, so i figured out the spark problem!!! It was my wiring harness. i didnt connect my ignition wire to the power from the main harness (located by the battery). :nono:
And with that discovery.. i found out that i have 1 bad coilpack.
BUT.. my car still wont start... :wtf2: So i took out the sparkplugs after trying to start it and there was no trace of fuel on them.
Any ideas??

Thanks for the advice bro. Do you think a Multimeter would do the trick??

Ok guys, so i was doin some research on why i am not getting any fuel, and one of the problems could be that the fuel lines were installed backwards. So i went out there.. and sure enough.. they were on backwards!! Ahhh.. thats a relief, im just glad it wasnt anything electrical lol
BUT.. before i removed the fuel lines to switch them around, i knew i had to relieve the fuel pressure, or i would get a nice premium unleaded shower lol
so what i did to relieve the pressure was, i removed the gas cap and 10amp fuel pump fuse from the fuse box (disabling the fuel pump). Then i cranked the engine a bit. and it worked! no more fuel pressure.
Well, i got the lines switched around and removed the fuel rail (to check & see if the injectors would spray when i cranked it)... and now i have another problem. THE FUEL PUMP ISNT PRIMING!!
ANY IDEAS PEOPLE!?!?
Ugh! i was soooo ready to start this thing! lol

No light on the ecu, your ecu could be bad? I had to replace mine because the light wouldn't come on and my car wouldn't start. Anyway, I did that and it runs fine now. Your fuel pump isn't priming itself, could be bad OR could be corroded wires. I had to rewire my whole fuel pump system because the wires were so old and ate up. You need someone around with the same set up and see if you could use their ecu. I know your pain bro, and it sucks. :frown:

Thanks again for the reply brent!!
But yeah i think i might have to replace the ecu :frown:
If the ecu isnt getting power, then the fuel pump wouldnt work right?
but it makes no sense to me! everything else BUT the fuel pump is working. It stopped working when i removed the fuel pump fuse and relieved the fuel pressure.
Oh, and i used a multimeter on the fuelpump connector in the trunk and i got some voltage back there when the key is in the ON position... confusing stuff :gotme

Check your fusible links under the hood along with all of the fuses. (Under the dash, AND under the hood.) I'm going to bed a fuse popped.

Good news guys!! i figured out the ECU and fuel pump problem. It was the ignition wire to the power from the main harness connection.. i forgot to solder and shrink wrap the wires together.. so they just came undone. Amateur mistake lol

So after fixing that, i turned the key to the ON position, re-pressurizing my fuel lines, and went ahead and tried to start it. I cranked it.. it sputtered.. then just continued cranking lol
so i put a lil starting fluid in the throttle body and tried cranking it again.. and IT WORKED!!!.. but only for about 10 seconds haha. It seems like it started and ran for those 10 seconds only on the starting fluid, then once the gas got in there, it shut off. (or it just isnt getting any/enough fuel in there) OH!!.. and the fuel that is in the gas tank is really old, and was used on the old ka24e engine. (regular unleaded)
Think that would cause it not to run?
Well anyway, im going to siphon the fuel outta the gas tank and replace it with some good ole $3 a gallon premium unleaded with injector cleaner tomorrow and ill tell you guys how it works.
Thanks for all the help guys! :mike

This is usually because of the CAS. I posted an entire thread on it... Link is in the FAQ.
