89 s13-no fuel...help please

i checked my fuel pump fuse and it was blown replaced it and pump still did not kick on when i turned the key on. whats weird is i checked the power to the pump by checking the two terminals that are one over the other on the right side of the connector as ur looking at it...when i had turned on the key i would get 12 volts and voltage would go away when i turned the key off...i was thinking it might be the fuel pump relay but what would explain the 12 volts im getting?... or would i get the volts even if the relay was out? also this car has been wrecked...is there such thing as a fuel pump shut off that trips like on newer cars?

something tells me you might want to check the fuse again. It could have blown again during the power-up. If it did, you've got a grounding issue, the juice is grounding out somewhere in your fuel system's wiring.

i checked the fuse again and its still good, its about to drive me crazy...it ran before it sat up for years and i dont know how the fuel pump could have went bad from just sitting.....Also thanx for replying to me since i got this 240 i got on two other forums and nobody replies to my posts other forums are also not set up as good as this one...guess i found a home...

figured it out today...fuel pump has unfortunately bit the dust...man, it was nasty...any suggestions how i might clean out this filthy gas tank? i cant think of anything i can do myself.

flush it will clean fuel and lint free rags.
