89 s13 KA24E wiring help

The car will be track only, totally gutted. I want only the wires that make it go. I was thinking about starting at the ECU and keeping only wires that eventually feed into it. Then, if there was anything else that I had to have running, I could wire it directly to 12volt power. Will that work? What do I have to keep and what can I get rid of?

if you're going to gut it, then ur going to remove anything you dont need right? Whats the point in messing with the wires? if you disconnect/remove the component, no power will be sent to that component...

I'm more concerned with weight than electrical power. I'd love to be as far below 1900 lbs as possible. I also want to have as few wires as possible so that it will be easier to track down electrical problems as they arise.
