After 10 years, I'd definitely check the cabling and connections before you condemn the starter. Here's a proper how-to. You can use voltage drop on the power-side cabling and fasteners too, not just grounds:

If the starter is weak, it will be the same crap as the wiper. Sitting for 10 years is a recipe for crumbling brushes and corroded commutators. It may improve as you use it again, or it may get worse. Here's how to diagnose starter motors:

You'll need one of the Hardbody mavens in here to help you with that. I dunno, maybe the truck had an EGR delete. If the wire colors are still legible, you can usually identify mystery connectors by combing the Foldout and matching up colors and number of pins.

The second pic looks like a ground wire. I don't know...

First thing I would do would be to rule out the clutch. With the pedal disengaged start the truck with the transmission in gear and in neutral. Possibility the clutch isn’t fully disengaging. Make sure you don’t have a leak, or loosing pressure in hydraulic clutch. Might also have rust on the fly wheel or pressure plate. Another thought, you might consider getting the truck road worthy. Drive it again, as the vehicle has been sitting for 10 plus years.

Clutch is good. I'm shifting around. No leaks!

I'm battling a rough idle now (newish plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor, new gas, fuel filter new tank). Looking at the motor mounts (original), o2 sensor (original).

Look for vacuum leaks. Should have roughly 18-22 in vacuum. Check the transmission mount first.

Admins,

I'm trying to post a video. Is that against the rules? mp4 file extension.

You have to post a link for vids and have them hosted off site. I'm pretty sure the Nico site itself can't host or attach them.

Whelp here I go again. Soooooooooooooo, trial and error with the rotor position. I played around with where the rotor should be turned. Apparently I just swung that thang around and unscrewed it installed the new one INCORRECTLY! 2.4 running a little fast high rpms but it's not backfiring, or sputtering or anything ugly. I wan't to thank everyone that puts up with all my rookie questions. (whomadewho and vstar) special shout out guys. I'm not ashamed of my mistake, i learn better this way. :  :naughty: :) :poke: :woot:
