I really appreciate all of the guys and girls of this nico club.

back story: over 20 years ago the compressor started squeaking, and did the only right thing. I cute the belt! :chuckle:

What type of a/c would have been installed in my truck back in 1989? r12?

Okay, Can i still purchase r12?

How hard/easy is it to convert over to r134a?

Don’t have to change dryer unless you like spending $$$. Most shops are going to give you the converting story.

As long as the system is empty and you aren’t reclaiming the Freon. You don’t want to contaminate the Freon. Could have been a loose belt or a idler pulley. Wouldn’t recommend purchasing small cans of Freon to charge the system
